Health Monitoring

Health Monitoring is extremely important to autonomous operations. As humans will not be onboard the vessel to ensure systems continue to operate within optimal performance parameters, the autonomy system needs to be able to monitor all systems and take corrective action for systems that are not operating correctly. Examples include engine overheating and hydraulic failures, each of which could have a significant impact on the mission of the vessel. Reactions to excursions outside of normal operating parameters could result in the autonomy system reducing operating speeds, shutting an engine down, or restricting the ability of the vessel to maneuver in order to minimize the possibility of failure of the system in question.
