- Designed, built and tested for the purpose of providing "Perception and Hazard Avoidance Technology" from the ONR-33 Unmanned Sea Surface Vehicle (USSV) technology development program, a joint project between NavSea, Office of Naval Research, SIS and NASA JPL.
Description of Technology
- One Advanced Perception and Hazard Avoidance Advanced Demonstration Model (APHA-ADM) was fabricated, installed on a USV, run inline with the existing Command and Control (C2) system, and tested. The APHA-ADM includes a stereo camera system, image processing system, an autonomy system for boat control, and hazard avoidance behaviors in accordance with the COLREGS. All components are hardened and marinized for use on one of the existing prototype USVs.
